This was inspired by a moscow mule (lime, ginger beer, vodka). I got sick of payign for good ginger beer ($1.50/bottle) so I decided to use the ingredients I had, and swap the borign vodka for gin.

  • 1/2 lime
  • 3-5 cubes ice
  • 1.5 oz gin
  • 1/2 oz Rose's Lime Syrup
  • 1 litre ginger ALE
  • 1/2 oz Ginger Juice (from a health food aisle or store - made by "The Ginger People" - if you cant find it the ingredients were ginger, water and citric acid, which can be bought as crystals from an indian food store)
  • 3 dashes lemon bitters (or any citrus bitters, what do I care, but I like those made by "The Bitter Truth")
  1. I made ginger ale from the concentrate from Soda Stream
  2. Add to the ginger ale, the bitters and ginger juice, 1L makes about 3-4 drinks, be careful to tilt the ginger ale bottle, so that it does not fizz out of the bottle top when you add the ginger juice. Congratulations, you have made a "giner beer" that is indistinguishable fromt he real thing in a cocktail.
  3. Cut your lime into 6 wedges, and squeeze 3 of them into the bottom of a 16-20 oz glass
  4. Add ice, gin and lime syrup
  5. Roll glass to melt nucleation sites
  6. Top with your home made "ginger beer". Push a straw or spoon in it twice to "mix".
